History of Hotel Aashiya Haveli
        
            The family of Aashiya Haveli is of the highly respected and regarded class which
            is in-between social order of the Rajputs and the status of the Brahmans. There
            is a caste of Charans which exercises a great respectability and influence
            in Rajasthan. The speciality of the caste is that it combines in its characteristics
            of Rajputs and Brahmans in an adequate manner.
        
            Charans are highly revered for their unflinching readiness for martyrdom,
            bravery in war, high literary sense and deep loyalty to patrons. Ancestor of this
            family were good poets and better soldiers. Members of this family are considered
            to be divine by a large section of society. Women of the caste are adored as mother
            goddesses by other major communities of this region including Rajput Kings. Maharana
            UDAI SINGH ji, the founder of Udaipur invited this family to occupy a place of esteem
            in the royal courts of Mewar.
        
        
            Maharana BHIM SINGH ji gave grants of four villages named Kadiya, Pasoond, Mandar
            and Mengatiya, and granted the permission to build RAWLA in Pasoond village. Same
            Maharana also gave to this family, an urban house to live in Udaipur, near his palace,
            which is presently known as AASHIYA HAVELI. From that time Aashiya family is living
            in this haveli. Kuber dan ashiya and Satya dev singh ashiya, the present members
            of Aashiya family, began renovation of this haveli in 2006 and within two and a
            half years aashiya Haveli opened its doors for travellers, while remaining the city
            dwelling of the original family.
